Our Chief Lecturer
I’m Dr. Kurt Verkest, a veterinarian with 30+ years of clinical experience across Australia, the UK, and Hong Kong. I co-founded PCVA, practice in medical and surgical oncology, and advise colleagues worldwide through Vets Central, VIN, and across the Asia–Pacific. I hold a PhD in the endocrinology of canine obesity from the University of Queensland, received the Dean’s Award for Research Higher Degree Excellence, and served as scientific coordinator for the International Asia Veterinary Conferences in 2024 and 2025.
I care deeply about teaching that is practical and patient-centered. I led Hong Kong’s first accredited veterinary nursing course and co‑created the HKFYG veterinary assistant program, running since 2010, and I bring that same hands‑on, case‑based approach to this course. Together we’ll focus on clear reasoning, real examples, and skills you can use immediately in practice.
